all the things they love”
“I suspect things would move in a different direction”

First Class laid his head in the lap of his owner
And just said a lick of thanks
“Her hand is salty, I like that taste”
“Which reminds me, I’ll have another drink”

Dancer

Click. Click. Click. Click.
His paws make noise against the floor
Click. Click. Click. Click.
His owners want to throw him out the door

Click. Click. Click. Click.
He methodically changes direction
Click. Click. Click. Click.
His owners try not to pay him any attention

Click. Click. Click. Click.
“Go upstairs and quit your pacing!”
The owners think he is a dunce
But we all know it’s no fun
To Dance without an audience.

Spot

“The streets are always crowded”
“And there is no where to take a pee”
“Without someone yelling at me”
Said Spot to the stained tree

“Take a look at where those silly humans”
“Throw down their cigarettes”
“You don’t have to pee on me”
Said the stained tree

And so Spot watched his owner
Drop his cigarette into a drain
And without further hesitation
Spot peed the same

“Good boy! That’s the way!”
His owner shouted in glee.
And as Spot glanced back across the street
A wink came from the tree

Playboy

“Hey there toots!”
Said the Playboy to the poodle
As he walked up there to her
And put his nose in her caboodle

“I think you are one of a kind”
Said the Playboy with a wink
“You’re not like the other dogs”
“You are fesh and you don’t stink”

The Playboy rubbed his nose against her ear
And the poodle showed no fear
As they pranced around the corner
And kissed until the the sun disappeard

“Love me two times baby”
Was the last thing the Playboy did say
As they kissed the night away.
And she begged him to stay
As Playboy ran to kiss for another day

The Singer

“Come on baby light my fire…”
The Singer sang while walking down the street
His owners thought him a bit odd
To be singing in this silly heat

“I did it my way…….”
The Singer sang as he jumped onto the rocker
His owners thought he needed some help
“Honey, should we take him to the doctor?”

“On the road again….”
The Singer sang as he was loaded into the car
His owners pretended they didn’t hear him
As the Singer bellowed
“When you wish upon a star…”

While everyone thought him odd
The Singer knew a secret
That no one else knew
If you sing while you are happy
There is no way you can get the blues

Walking Tall

His litter-mate moved on today
She needed a new place to stay
Walking Tall felt really sad
He loved the litter-mate he had

He drank too much water to stay happy
He ate too much food to feel okay
With the loss of his litter-mate
Even though he knew she couldn’t stay

But a bright light welcomed him outside
The smell of roses filled his nose
Litter-mate or not
Walking Tall walked down the dirt road

And chased a rabbit!
And wallowed in the mud!
And napped in the sun!
And all was still good and fun!

And as others came and went from his life
Walking Tall remembered the day
When he felt lonesome and lost
But decided, even as a puppy,
He could Walk Tall anyway

Mr Jeep

He likes to ride tall on the road
He likes the feel of trailer in tow
He likes to remove the top when he can
He’s Mr Jeep
And he’s such a man

“Air in my face”
“Wind in my hair”
“The smells of life”
“The constant stares”

Those are the thoughts of Mr. Jeep
Honking his horn
Beep
Beep
Beep

But don’t tell him
It could be better
Why travel in a plane?
When his fanny can sit on leather?

The open road is all a dog wants
No end is all a dog needs
It’s not in a closed car
But an open road
Where Mr. Jeep can truly breathe
