had about a majority of the family torn apart because of that stunt.” “It won’t happen again.” I promised. “Brother and wolf’s honor.” “Good.” Kella cut in. “Now that that’s settled, it’s time we discuss a more important matter we have unfolding at paw.” She motioned to the news bulletin on the television screen. “Right.” I said. “You thinking what I’m thinking?” “Oh yeah.” She responded. “Time to do a little deeper digging. I’ll introduce you to the rest of our little group on the way down to Chicago PD. Get your clothes on and meet me down at my place in about another hour. It’s time you earned your wings again, young buddy, young pal.”

Chapter Four

We rushed our way down the many busy streets of the east side headed steadfast for Union Station in downtown. Word was our subject, Vernon Riches, was planning an attack on the usually packed transportation hub and would probably stop at nothing to burn that down too with every chance he got and whom we’d learned had connections to many substantial fires around the city to both rail and other transportation authority properties and infrastructure all around. Kella pulled us hastily into the parking lot a minute later and one by one, we all dashed out of her car and through the double doors of the main entrance where we then began making our way down the halls and into the main concourse where we heard the sound of screaming. Out of the crowd of animals running past me, I could just make out the figure of a black and mud brown wolf dressed in an all-black fireman like suit with a flamethrower held firmly in his paws, spraying fire in every and all directions as he slowly made his way into view. He stopped when he saw us. “So, you’re the famous Oath Keepers they speak so fondly of. Well, you’ll soon be the gate keepers of the pearly whites as soon as I’m done with you all.” He turned on his flamethrower and we all dove for cover behind a nearby wall as fire soon rushed into the very spot I’d been standing and the heat permeated off the floor to the left of us. Trisha Watson or Bloodspill as she was known by the group, fired three shots with her Kimber 1911 at the fuel tank of the flamethrower on Riches’ back which I was sure made their mark but surprisingly Riches was still left unscathed. “Fool.” He said icily. That tank along with this whole suit is made of fully ballistic nylon. So, every shot you take is just a waste of your precious ammo. Out of nowhere, Kari Voucher, also known as Sekh saw a perfect opportunity for a sneak attack and plunged her knife deep into his back before ripping it out forcefully and responding, “Too bad it’s all but shank proof.” “And now you deserve a good night’s sleep.” I said before delivering a rock hard right hook to his temple which sent him crashing to the floor like a sack of potatoes. “All yours, officers.” Kella said to a pair of Metra transit policemen who had just now walked up to collect their catch. She turned to me. “You show promise, Iki.” She complimented. “It’s good to have you back as a private enforcer again. Superb work.” “Thanks.” I replied. “It’s damn good to be back, Kells. Damn good to be back indeed. We turned and strolled slowly toward the exit doors of the station to the parking lot, sharing our feelings of pride, morality, and success amongst each other as we made the free and easy journey home.
