I wasn’t sure just what to say to the Don, surely refusing such an offer would be an insult, but… I couldn’t marry whatever woman it was he had in mind for me to wed.

Slowly but surely, I felt a chill of panic beginning to spread through the upper part of my chest, how could I say no?

What’s the politest way to say not just no, but Hell No?

Especially, to a man who could slaughter your entire family with clean hands and not lose a wink of sleep over it the next night?

All of a sudden I realized just how bad tonight was going to get…
