Death is Love.
Hello, my name is Arubella Vonstroff, I’m 17 years old, 5’8, waist length silky brown hair, caramel skin and eyes that change depending on my environment. There is one thing most people don’t know about me, I’m dead (literally). No I’m not a vampire, nor am I a zombie, or whatever else there could possibly be, I’m DEATH’S DAUGHTER. Oh by the way death is not all bones and wearing a black cloak, we look just like any regular human, and this is why we find it so easy to do our job. Right now I’m in a really tight pinch; let’s start from the very beginning. I have this totally hot (and I mean smoking hot) neighbor named Josh. He’s 18, but let’s just say his dad and my dad don’t get along very well. Josh used to be human and it was just his mom, dad, and his little sister Susie. One afternoon his dad decides to give him a driving lesson, josh was doing great, so he went on a highway to test his skills and a drunk driver came out of nowhere and slammed their car, which killed him and his dad instantaneously, leaving Susie and ma all alone. When they died, they came to the threshold between life and final death, they were given two choices (more like ultimatums), first, you can go to heaven and wait for the rest of your family without seeing them until their death and no interfering, OR become a death god (shinigami, demon, nightmare, boogie monster, whatever) and watch their family and stop whatever harm that comes their way, only if it is not their time yet. Which do you think they chose? Duh, the latter of course. Well back to the main story. Myself and Josh have been neighbors for twelve (12) years and for ten (10) of those years I’ve been in love with him. But one hot summer afternoon, I saw josh mowing his lawn without a shirt on (whistle), if it’s possible, I fell in love with him even deeper. My luck totally sucks but I thank the gods everyday for making my luck great on Tuesday, two weeks after I saw him without his shirt, because he told me that he has always been in love with me, ( have I mentioned that he is completely and absolutely positively GOEGOUS) and we started dating. It’s been four years and josh just proposed, well you can guess what I said, and if you can’t I said yes, guess our dads will have to learn to live with each other for eternity. But here’s where the problem comes in, I’m about to go out to work (you know, take someone’s life) and guess who just happens to end up on my list, Josh’s little sister. (Now you see this is a big problem). So now I have a choice, take his sisters’ life and hope Josh doesn’t hate me for the rest of eternity, or leave her to someone else, and hope josh doesn’t hate me and I don’t get erased (killed) for good. Like a little girl I go running into my daddy’s arms to ask him what to do, this is what he says: “sweetheart, you have two choices; 1. You could leave her to die of old age, but she’ll either go to hell or heaven for all eternity, or 2. You could take her now, and she becomes a soul reaper, which means she’ll have to start collecting souls like we do, which also happens to be a form of torture, well hon. Looks like you’re in a bit of a bind”, and I say thanks dad, that helped a little bit,” now I have to go discuss it with josh. Twenty (20) minutes later, Josh isn’t quite happy, but he is not quite mad at me nor does he hate me (Wahoo). I told him the situation and asked him what he wanted to do, but he said he couldn’t make that decision, his sister (Susie) had to make that decision for herself and her alone. Seeing as to how we live in the underworld (not hell) we have to go to earth’s surface. Two (2) weeks later we head up. We stay on the surface just watching, and now it’s time to confront eighteen (18) year old Susie, josh’s unsuspecting sister. We’ve arrived at Susie’s residence and asked her which she would prefer 1. Leave now and become a soul reaper or 2. Live and die of old age with the possibility of either going to heaven or hell, but of course this was only after Josh had finished fraternizing with his family. Susie actually made her choice quite quickly, she chose choice #2, old age, and this is what she said, “I’d like to be with josh again but I’d also like to stay here and have a normal life and see what it has to offer me.” And that was that. We stayed an extra two weeks, so that josh could fraternize some more, then we left, and immediately after our arrival, myself and Josh got married. Josh still misses his family, so I asked my dad to give josh permission to go visit his family whenever he wanted, my dad can do that, because he’s death, boss of the entire underworld. I guess I should say myself and josh lived happily ever after, but I won’t. (We had a few bumps on the road, but if we didn’t we wouldn’t be normal. Mwahahahahahahaha).
